INFORMATION
Each day we focus on connecting the mind, body, and soul. Through daily yoga practices, nourishing meals, and a combination of both restful meditations and rejuvenating cultural adventures, our itinerary cultivates a new energetic flow. This trips offers rest, renewal, restoration, and revitalization, as well as new explorations and expressions of our potential and purpose.
Settling in at Lake Atitlan, we begin each day with mindful movement and bodywork. Mornings open to the sounds of the lake as we do yoga on a lakeside pavilion. We transition seamlessly into afternoons of adventure and cultural experience, weaving our way up and around lake vistas, volcanoes, and Guatemalan villages steeped in Mayan tradition. After dining on healthy, flavorful meals, evenings end in reflection, peace, and the opportunity for personal time – often following a gentle evening meditation session.
We want you to experience a new part of the world at the same time you’re experiencing new parts of yourself. Diving into ourselves amidst beautiful natural surroundings, we experience new sources of understanding and awakening. As we elevate our own wellbeing, we then also have the opportunity to pay it forward in volunteering with the Integral Heart Foundation.
This experience is curated by Allium Awake Retreats and powered by the drive to be well and do good. 10% of the trip’s proceeds are donated to the Integral Heart Foundation, and we get to spend an afternoon hanging out with the kids of the Foundation. Because of this unique “give-back” component of The Renewal Retreat™, guests receive the tax benefit of a charity contribution tax write-off.
YOUR GUIDE
Jackie Kuiper, RYT-200, is the founder of Allium Awake Retreats. Growing up as a competitive swimmer, she spent hours each day in the pool. While earning her JD at William Mitchell College of Law, she worked as a NASM-certified personal trainer. She later began working for Lifetime Athletic, and taught a “spin” class of elite athletes at the Minneapolis Lifetime Athletic Club for over eight years. She also gained an interest in yoga more than seventeen years ago, and has developed her practice to include vinyasa, hatha, yin, ashtanga, and “flow” yoga styles, obtaining her RYT-200 at Meghan Currie’s Yoga Teacher Training in Bali, 2016. Jackie has explored shamanic teachings, chakra-based energy work, reiki, intuitive guidance, meditation, and other holistic modalities of healing and personal growth. Her focus has been overcoming stress and “burn-out”. Now, her mission with Allium Awake is to pass along the teachings she’s learned.
VENUE
One of the planet’s most majestic spots, Lake Atitlan offers volcanoes, coffee plantations, ancient villages, wild forests, hiking trails, and waterfalls. At La Casa Rosa, an eco-resort, we experience deep rest and relaxation only minutes away from rejuvenating adventures. Surrounded by ancient Mayan culture, our destination offers a calm, secluded, secure environment, boasting a wood-burning sauna, two house cats, and a specially designed Yoga Pavilion for yoga and other physical and spiritual disciplines. From the hotel, you can hike up to waterfalls, swim in or paddle on the lake, or walk to local villages. The lake-side cabanas and the sauna are great for those that appreciate sunbathing or spa-centric retreats.
La Casa Rosa was designed to keep local Mayan traditions, communities, and environments in mind. This space allows us to soak in an organic lifestyle in harmony with nature: sunbathe or swim from the tranquil lakeside docks or relax in the gardens as the fresh breeze rolls off the lake.
The beauty found at Lake Atitlan lies in the art of making our vacation space a sanctuary for the soul, where we escape the discord and stress of modern life. Lake Atitlan is a place we seek new meaning for our lives and restore our own mind-body-soul balance while positioning ourselves to help others. This is truly a place of renewal.
